St. Stephens Anglican Church

About Us

The Parish of Lyttelton comprises the church of St. Stephen's situated in Cradock Avenue, Lyttelton,  within the Archdeaconry of Hennop's River.

The congregation of St. Stephen's comprises of a diverse group of people (affectionately referred to as 'liquorice all sorts' by the congregation) coming from a cross section of our South African society. Members travel from as far as Silver Lakes, Olifantsfontein, and Mnandi.

We believe that the format of the Sunday Service, namely, Praise and Worship, followed by the Holy Eucharist is an important contributing factor to the growth    experienced at St. Stephen's. The members of St. Stephen's have opportunities    to be involved in Community Outreach Programs such as Dove's Nest - a safe house for abandoned children, etc. A general theme running through the Parish    is one of caring and loving.

Membership to St Stephen's is not automatic, potential new members are invited to a meal where the ethos of the church is explained and what would be expected of a member of St. Stephen's. These people then have an opportunity to think about this before they commit themselves as a member at the Sunday service
